Provo Craft announced today to their third party vendors that they are no longer going to be producing their original Cricut Expression machines. They will only be continuing to manufacturer the E2 machines.
This move by Provo Craft seems to be a continued effort to move towards only producing digital images and no physical cartridges which is where I have seen Provo Craft heading since their new president took over.
What does this mean to Cricut Expression Fans? You might want to locate a back up machine while you still can.
While I do love my original Cricut Expression, and thank goodness she is still chirping away happily when I need her to work, I have been very pleased with my Silhouette Cameo die cut machine as it is so versatile.
How does Provo Crafts decision to discontinue the Expression effect you?
I really hope this is not the case. I absolutely love my E and use it on a daily basis. To me the E2 is just too confusing to use. I can have my cut done on my original E and put together before I can figure out the sizing on the E2.
I don’t want to go to a new brand of machine considering how much money I have wrapped up in Cricut Cartridges. I like that I can quickly pull out my cartridge and make a cut quickly. I don’t want to have to get on a computer program just to cut out something. What if I am in need of a specific cut and the web site is down, or my computer is acting up???? What will I do then???
I (luckily) do have a backup original E that I purchased a couple of years ago on super sale, so hopefully I won’t have to make the transition anytime too soon.
I’m shocked that they have still been manufacturing the original expression. I have the E2 and love it. I think people that use the original expression are just not use to the E2, it’s not much different, you don’t need the over lays. You can put everything on the mat and cut it all at different sizes and walk away til it’s done. It’s easy once you learn it, just like the E. I have not used the E but watching videos of the E and using the E2 I think E2 is easier. It’s just what ever you learn. I think CCR is the easiest thing to use but I think I’m alone on that one. I also don’t think the will get rid of physical cartridges but will keep coming with digital. The whole world is going digital, it’s no surprise.
Seriously what is going on with this company?!?!? I was a very loyal customer for years! I have since ventured to the Cameo. I have ALL of the cricut machines and when my imagine and gypsy died I was told sorry there is nothing they can do…… REALLY!? So frustrated with this company!
I don.t believe this. I have a lot of money invested in this company for them do pull a stunt like not having the E anymore. tHIS IS PLAIN & SIMPLE A BAIT & SWITCH. I think they need a new president!!
